George and Abbie wanted to transform their living room, which felt cold and uninviting, but they were unsure where to begin and needed to stick to a minimal £150 budget. The core challenge was to inject warmth and create a cosy, homely feel without a major renovation.

Design Strategy and Execution

The strategy focused entirely on utilizing the room’s existing assets, primarily its natural light. We developed a moodboard to align on the desired look and feel, and then selected a specific colour palette to instantly introduce warmth and depth. The transformation was achieved simply: with the right paint colour, a carefully chosen new rug, and a couple of key accessories.

Following the success of the living room, we immediately moved to the master bedroom, creating a separate, warm, and relaxing haven where the couple could easily switch off. The key tasks for both rooms focused on foundational guidance: suggesting and sourcing paint samples and finishes and providing detailed colour and painting guidance for walls, woodwork, ceiling, and the feature fireplace.

Outcome and Value

This project was a true demonstration of achieving high impact with minimal budget and time. Both spaces were instantly more inviting and personal. The value of this work became evident later: when George and Abbie sold their house, prospective viewers and purchasers consistently commented on the rooms’ wonderful ‘feel,’ which directly aided in achieving a quick sale. The project showcased how thoughtful, budget-friendly interior design can dramatically enhance both the emotional and real market value of a home.
